Halloween 2011

A little belatedly............October was a busy month, and November is shaping up the same........but some Halloween photos.

Evie getting ready.  She had a garden fairy costume, and Mommy really wanted to put a fake axe in the headdress, but Evie wasn't having any part of it.  Call it too many Fright Nights preparations with Skyler....I'm primed at Halloween for making gory outfits!

Then she decided not to wear the headdress at all.  And then fell asleep just when we were getting ready to go.  So we had to wait till 7:30, which is getting on to being "late" in this part of the woods.  Most kids are out and finished by then.  (But not in my day; heck we didn't venture forth till at least 8 pm and then were out till 11 or so....ah the good ol' days).

We don't always get Sean out for the event, but since Evie came home, and I've taken her out, Sean has been more willing.  This year we could even dress him up a little....a black cape and some makeup.  (I did the moustache, he did the beard).

He was a little aggressive, since he had gotten into candy that kids had given him at school.  Once again, after the Halloween experience, I know for sure that this kid just can't handle much sugar.  We didn't go to a lot of houses, maybe 5 or 6, but he was getting very oppositional in his behaviour.  He had to bring along walkie talkies, so that he could keep in touch with Dad, and instruct him precisely on how to hand the candy out (to all of two kids that came to the door...our house looks pretty dark and spooky), and then got very hard to handle once we were home again.  It ended up just a mess at bedtime, with him screaming and hitting, then a sobbing pile of Sean under the covers.  He was twitchy and uncomfortable, and really is it worth it?  I don't know what the solution is, because I like him to participate in these things....perhaps trade the candy away for something else, but it's really hard to find other motivators......

Anyways, another Halloween come and gone.
