Streetlights!!
And solar panel garden lights. The above fixture combines both, and he is so thrilled with the image that he had it printed and mounted on the wall by his bed. It's a solar panel street light, and he keeps talking about how he could have one of these out by his trampoline, so that he could bounce at night.
As is usual for Sean's obsessions, now almost all of our conversations revolve around street/solar panel lights. We visited friends at a campground yesterday, and on our walk around the park, had to check out all the lights we could find. I try to inject some social skills learning into these walks, telling Sean that while he likes the lights, Mum likes looking at trailers and tent designs, so we could talk part of the time about lights, and part of the time about the other. After all we do all have our little obsessions, (mine, travel, the river, boats, the river, great restaurants, the river), and he can hopefully learn to tap into someone else's interests in order to have meaningful conversation.
It's a stretch right now, but he is slowly getting the concept.
All of this social stuff is going to be so important as he enters Grade 7 at the high school this fall, and has a lot of new kids to meet...and maybe friends to make!
