Boo Hoo Summer's Done

Always a sad time of year for me.  Sure it's nice to get the three back into school, more time for Mummy, but still hard to let the summer go.

We had a lot of nice times this summer.  Quickly recapping, it started off with Evie and her Montessori Olympics.  Pictures below.  Sadly we didn't get to watch anywhere near as much of the London version on TV, as I would have liked.

The themes taught as part of this Montessori unit were international cooperation, sportsmanship, a knowledge of different Olympic events, and a smidgen about some of the participating countries.  (As one Montessori Mom told me, her little guy came home one day stating "Mommy the Mona Lisa is in the Louvre, and that's in Paris!)  My girl didn't have anything quite as dramatic to relate, but she did enjoy the different flags, and all of the sports.

Waiting her turn in the "torch relay".  (The torch flame was made of tissue paper)

The Equestrian Event (with sock horse).

The Cycling Event.

Balance Beam.

The Medal Ceremony.

Time for a picnic lunch with a proud Mummy.

Way to go, Olympians!

The weeks of July that followed were filled with some very hot days.  Sean did several day camps, complaining about having to get up early, and Evie started some days at a farm day camp, where she got to ride ponies and help feed animals, along with crafts and playing with a lot of nice Barbies.

To be continued....
