Ski Day

In the hopes of getting the family out for an activity we can all enjoy, we started Sean and Evie on the bunny hill for downhill skiing.

As you can see, it all went very well.  Evie was very keen, and did OK, as long as Mummy held onto her, in some fashion or another.  She didn't enjoy going fast (it's a bunny hill, really we weren't pushing it), but when it levelled out, I'd get her to do the "pizza" or "french fry" stances to get her used to snowplowing, the first step in attaining control.  We have a ways to go with that, but the fact that she enjoyed herself was huge.

An Evie self-portrait.

Sean, as you can see from the photo at the very beginning of the post, did very well too, not needing to hold onto Bob at all by the end, and mastering the magic carpet by himself.  Given a choice he probably wouldn't have come out for this at all, but we've learned that sometimes you just do it, and he has to follow.  Now he has some confidence with it, and given a few more visits to the hill, he will likely be mastering the chair lift and some green runs before long.  He has remarkable balance (developed from bouncing on the exercise ball for hours at a time).

Here, it is the end of the day, and he wants no part of little sister's picture-taking!
