March Break 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our March break this year, taking a few days away in Lake Placid.  The added bonus this year were friends who came along.  This was all arranged rather last minute so it was a nice surprise.  We all stayed together at the Golden Arrow, and met for dinners and breakfast, pretty much doing our own thing during the day.  Skyler had teenagers to ski with, and hang with at night, so it all worked out very well.

Sean really enjoys this stuff...nice machine room for the lift in the background too...(of great interest to him)

I don't know who the chick behind Evie is, but this shows what nice weather we had that day!

The two Golden Arrow godesses...don't we look angelic? We've known Silvia and Dave since prenatal classes in 1996, and their daughter is just a couple of weeks younger than Skyler.

No, Sky is not drinking beer, although we are out at a pub!

Sean having a bit of crazy time in the pool.  I don't know if it was the water, but a few hours after this, he ended up with a bit of a fever and had to run to the bathroom a few times....

No, Bob has not had beer, although he looks like it.  Evie put her helmet on his head and took this picture.

It was so warm that she shed her coat.

Still loves to be with her big brother, even when he is otherwise occupied...

Looking good Sean!

All in all a nice holiday.  It gets harder to do these things with a busy teenager, but I keep in mind a psychologist's writings (Dr. Gordon Neufeld in "Hold onto your Kids") who stresses that family time together is important, without all of the distractions of the peer group.  We are the "compass point" for our kids, so we have to remind them of that by spending quality time together.  Yeah, we still lost him for hours at a time with that iphone though...maybe a holiday location next year away from wireless.....?? (He'd kill me).  Good to reconnect though, and I think that is what Dr. Neufeld was getting at.

Happy Spring all!
